The immortal quartet - lyrical, lively and dark
A cornerstone of chamber music, Schubert’s Death and the Maiden is an expressive, unabashedly romantic and dramatic work that was written when Schubert himself was in death’s shadow. Recently, Mercury won accolades with the release of a recording of this famous quartet arranged for string orchestra.
This concert is made possible in part by the Houston Endowment and the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
